The hands free cell phone fiasco rages on.
I am asking other truck drivers if their company was prepared for it - so far all of them have said yes.  One of them stated he had to sign a form that states that he agrees not to use a hand held cellphone while driving his truck.
Our operations manager sent out an email advising us that he has ordered some sort of device for the trucks.  I have no clue, I am not up on bluetooth devices and what is used to make them work.

Whatever the case, the U.S. responded to Iran's statement, in a fashion that I would expect our nation's military to respond, something like swatting a fly.  Iran can send out all the ships it wants, how is that going to deter us?  Are they going to fire on one of our battleships?

I'm tired this morning.  Did not sleep well last night - makes for a looooong day at work.  Gag.

They have a legal battle on their hands and the captains of those vessels are online with the Jags back home. International law can be tricky. I can tell you a million stories about how they try to bait us into war and action...

OK. I just did a little geography refresher, and it is pretty much what I remembered. The Straits of Hormuz are about 38 miles wide at the narrowest point. One one side is UAE and Musqat, and guess what? The entire other side is the coastline of ..... Iran.

SO -who has a better 'right' to have ships in the straits? You talk about "swatting a fly" as if Iran did not have a military of any kind. If they do sink a few ships in the narrows, say hello to seven buck a gallon gas...if you can even get it. fin

Agreed, Bobby.

Fin - it isn't a matter of who has the right to have ships in the Strait, it's all about oil and it's passage to the U.S., pure and simple. The swatting fly statement? Our Navy compared to Iran's? Come on, now. It's like comparing a Boeing 787 to a Cessna 152. As far as war, I am completely opposed to it. Well, with Iran maybe not if they don't get rid of their nuke ambitions. Isn't that the point here? At least with me. Iran and it's barbaric, mouthy president has declared over and over that the Israel and the U.S. should be wiped off the face of the map. Give them a nuke that can make it to Israel and then what?
Iran wants a war. This is all I get out of it. And they want all their Muslim cohorts to join them. It's WWIII if it goes that far.
But, I don't expect the U.S. Navy/military commanders to respond anything differently than they did.
And I can guarantee you that if they fire at that giant battleship, a LOT of their ships are going down with it, if it even does go down. You don't think they are already ready for such a contingency whenever they go through there? And surely now. The U.S. has adamantly stated that they patrol that area and is not going to tolerate any nation attempting to shut it down. It's been that way for decades, this isn't anything new.

Whatever the case, it will be interesting, if nothing else, to see how this all pans out. Will Iran really do something? Is their army chief's statement that "we do not like to have to repeat ourselves twice" - referring to his warning against our Naval ships passing through their again - going to amount to anything? Is this the beginning of the end? Iran is a nuisance. At least it's leadership and it's Khomeni. Human life means nothing to them, do some research on what they have done to their own people over and over again. Read the human rights organizations from all over the world. Heck, read the news.

Thursday night I am finally home. The ending of the ordeal at the TA truckstop did not go without a hitch.  When I got there yesterday and ...
