Friday afternoon
I slept so poorly 2 nights ago that there was no way I was writing in this blog or doing much of anything beyond work. Yesterday was no barrel of fun as it stands.
When I got up to the plant in Gurdon, it was a huge mess. The 700-ish foot long driveway was double stacked with logging trucks, the highway that goes by the entrance had logging trucks backed up on the shoulder on both sides plus there was a line of logging trucks in the overflow area they have where they shuffle them when it gets too busy.
It was the first time I couldn't get in that way, I usually just by pass them on the far left but that's also where trucks are leaving and there wasn't any room to pull in and wait for them to pass. So, I went to the entrance where we deliver is at and went the back way up to the scale. That was also filled with trucks and I waited a full 50 minutes before I could even get to the scales.
On the way back there, I saw the driver that wanted to get into a fist fight with quite some time ago, he doesn't care about loading times, he'll show up whenever he wants. I ended up waiting well over an hour after I waited in the logging line for the scales for him to get done. I didn't say anything to him, he got his today showing up shortly after the driver-trainer showed up and he had to wait an hour and a half for him to get done, lol. I didn't say anything to the manager either. The manager will just start dumping me with late loads if I do that and that isn't worth it either.
Today? Rain. In fact, when I left for work shortly after the boys left out to walk up the street, it was literally pouring rain out there. I drove up the street, got them in the truck, they would have been soaking wet by the time that bus arrived if they had had to wait outside. Apparently it didn't start raining until after Taylor came back into the house so she didn't know. I didn't think she would just send them out in the rain "Oh well, have a nice day, don't get tooooo wet!". lmao.
Down to the washout, raining there but no worries for me, wasn't there that long and went over to the plant. Loaded quickly, the truck had trouble starting when I tried to leave the loading bay. Weird, I thought, those are brand new batteries but I didn't give it a second thought.
UP to the Love's travel center? I gave it a lot of thoughts. I turned that truck off to fuel and when I tried to turn it back on? One crank and it quit. I pulled off the battery cover, the connections were all tight. I went over to get a jump start, I just want to go home. But, I called the lead mechanic and we were discussing what it could be and admittedly, I hadn't opened the hood of the truck.
