 Monday - mid afternoon

I have no idea what it is about Mondays.  Everything was going fine until I got to the loading plant.  The first thing I noticed was the red glue all over the driveway, the scales, everywhere.  What on earth happened here?  The second thing that happened was, when I got backed under the overhang at the bay, was the new guy was going to be doing it solo.

Huh? He's pretty new/green.  Well, the red flag should have gone up when I saw one of the regular operators leaving. Where is he going?  I wondered.  So, this new dude was there all alone to deal with it himself.  I got in there early, btw, around 8:50 am.  That's early for having driving to the washout, got that done and then driven over there.

Anyway, he got done loading relatively quickly and that's when the trouble started.  He overloaded me.  80,120 pounds. 120 over gross.  Not much but they won't let you out of there over 80k.  So, I had to pull around back to have some drained out. I wondered who would be doing that? Because this guy sure as heck doesn't know how to do it.  An old hand came along, got it done relatively quickly and back to the scale. Still pretty heavy but not over,  I wouldn't be fueling today, I thought, but yes, please do get me out of here.

Well, parked the truck and into the control room. Another truck driver from a different company was already in there.  It sucked because I was at the plant before him, the only reason he was ahead of me in there was because of the overloading.

It sucked really bad after it took 25 minutes to even get him out of there. This new guy had no idea what he was doing with paperwork even tho he's had a month and a half of training now.  I sighed.  It's going to be quite a while before I get out of there.

And it was.  It was an hour - a whole hour to do paperwork - before I got out of there.  They usually have me in and out of there in 5 minutes.  There is only 1 consolation in all of this I had.  After I got in there, a lot of other trucks came in after me. This dude is loading 1 truck at a time, I could have been waiting in there for many hours before he would have even gotten to me if I had arrived at my normal time.

I mean, it's  not horrible, I got back around 1:00 pm but I would have been back around 11:45 am.

The house is sick. Well 2 people are anyway. Actually, Taylor sounds much better but the oldest kid is not doing so great.  Fever and obviously not feeling well, at all.  I've been staying away from him, I really, reaaalllly, reeeeeaaaaaaallllllyyyyyyy don't want to get sick right now.  I have a ton of stuff to do and it's not going to get done if I"m laying in bed. Not to mention not making any money.

And not getting anything done....and not making any money .. and not feeling too good while we're at it.

Anyway, since the kids seem to be behaving and one of them is passed out AND Taylor is doing well enough to deal with them, I think I will head back to the park after getting some diesel fuel and go ahead  and start ripping up the driveway. I don't know how long I have the use of that box blade and it has those beautiful rippers.....
