Tuesday - Night

Well, uneventful day as far as work is concerned and got it done relatively quickly. Drive up to Gurdon, unload in an hour and 8 minutes (not bad considering how long it's been taking us), drive back.  Kids still feeling hellish, the oldest threw up in his bed last night and then just laid on the couch.  Fever up above 102, couldn't drink water much more eating food, it was time to take them both to their doc. 

That was this afternoon and between that and the wait at Walgreens, we pretty much blew 3 plus hours.  They both have Strep throat AND the flu.  This explains all of it.  I thought they had the flu, the lady of the house thought they had strep throat, turns out we were both correct. She had the doc give notes for both of them to be out of school through Friday.  It's already Tuesday night and they are just starting on the antibiotics, they aren't going to be better any earlier than Thursday.  They sure aren't going to church tomorrow night, I won't take them with them being sick, they are still contagious I am guessing and I just won't risk having them get other people sick.  

But, before we left for the doc, we were all sitting in the living room watching a movie.  My dispatcher calls.  What are you doing right now?     ??  Watching TV? I got up and left the room so as not to disturb them. Well that doesn't sound very fun!  Uhh, just watching a movie with the kids, they asked me to watch it with them.  Oh, well anyway, can you do a run loading on Friday and delivering on Saturday? No, I asked for this weekend off over a month ago and it was approved.  She didn't know this because it apparently wasn't written on whatever sheet she was looking at.  Probably a print out of the time-off website we are now supposed to go to to ask for time off.

I have no access to it, I've asked them several times and finally just gave up on it. I really don't care about that and have never heard of actually having to go into a portal to ask for permission to get time off. I tried is all I can say. I still don't have access to the 401k site either.  I've asked for that on NUMEROUS occasions, I want to see what's in there, allocate it to whatever I want and probably up it to 5%.  As long as I'm working for this company, I will have money deducted into a 401k savings account. 

I wasn't going to somehow change my mind, but she likely already knew that. I have already spent the money on a hotel in Dallas and tho I did get the insurance on it - hotels in that area aren't particularly cheap and if we don't go for some reason, I want to be able to switch it to some other time or however it works, I really don't know.  The "some other reason" could just be that us adults get sick with what the kids have.  I've tried to stay away from them but Strep throat is highly contagious.  I won't go on an outing if I"m sick and the kids know nothing about it other than "we are going to have fun this weekend!". That was before they got sick but I imagine by Saturday they will be feeling better.  

Well I already knew before she said anything else what was happening. She didn't actually tell me but they are quite predictable how they work. I have no idea why she is doing the schedule, the manager usually does it so he's either on vacation or sick again.  Who knows.  She tries but she really doesn't know what she's doing.  What did she do? She had already assigned tomorrow and Thursday to other drivers and figuring I would work Friday and Saturday.  How do I know this? Because there is nothing in my tablet for scheduled work until Monday.

She won't go back and change the schedule and unfortunately, I will just say nothing at all. I'll take the time off, I didn't ask for anything but Saturday and Sunday, the rest is on them.  I don't know if it matters, if I get sick I won't be working anyways. Both of these kids have been laid out  for 2 days now. The oldest went to church on Sunday kicking, jumping, happy go lucky. By the time he got out of church, he said his head was hurting and he wasn't  feeling well. I said well then maybe we should go home instead of Applebee's. NOOOO.  

We did go to Applebee's, were there a while but there was a point that came that it  became obvious it was time to take him home and get  him down and resting.  Ever since then? Just totally out  of it.  

So, I am not  going to be early tonight, I have plenty I want to do tomorrow but I don't start before the crack of dawn for anything other than trucking.  I'm half tempted to get out there for at least a few hours and get some stuff done in that ditch.  But, I suspect I'll need to be home to watch the kids off and on while she goes and does her visitations.  

Really, tho, I"m just dreading getting what these kids have.  I hope i don't.
