 Thursday - evening

As we count down the time until this major storm event closes in on us, we are seeing panic buying going on and let me tell ya, it's nice outside, No coat at all.  I forgot to turn the heater off in my room, it's hot in here.  That will change, of course, but today was a nice day temperature wise.  Tomorrow is going to be fine as well, actually.  I don't know why that other driver wanted off of his load for today and tomorrow, he could have done it without any adverse weather.

It's Saturday early morning we start having the problem. It's showing freezing rain and it's showing it for as long as the hourly forecast goes, which is until 4:00 pm Saturday currently.  This is the stuff that can bring down power lines and telephone poles.

They still have me slated to drive Saturday and Sunday.  I wouldn't mind but for the ice.  That is a big no no in my book and if this forecast is correct, I will refuse the load if I have to and they can take their job and stick it where the sun don't shine.  I'm dead serious. That freezing rain is nothing to laugh at or mock people who don't want anything to do with it.

But, for the hundreds if not thousands of times they've gotten the forecast wrong around here? I'll take a wait and see position on it and also hope that the plant up north simply says no, we aren't having employees trying to get here in this junk, we're closing down.

 Wednesday - afternoon

I posted yesterday's post without proofreading much, it was on my phone and so I really don't care about spelling, lol.  Iphone will change words and that's that.

I am home, just got here a few minutes ago.  They finished the truck up this morning.  I had no idea it was going to rain today, the last I looked it was a very low chance. Instead? I drove all the way back in mid to heavy rainfall and poor visibility on the highways.  But I'm here and I have the rest of the day to do whatever.

So far, it as get a 5 gallon can of gas for the generators, make lunch and then sit down here and get on blogger.

The forecasts haven't changed much, they've actually gotten a bit worse for this weekend.  Now it's showing a low as far down as 11 degrees.  Frozen rain.  1/2 inch minimum on the roadways and potential snow.  I informed my manager a few minutes ago that if these forecasts turned out to be true, I will not be driving on ice.  They agreed with the kind of answer you'd expect from some corporate suit, which is fine, cover my ass type of stuff.

You never know, the forecast may change for the better.  I'm just not going to get stuck somewhere on the side of a road because it's impassable albeit the fact that both the truck and trailer are equipped with chains.  This machinery is from Oregon where the roads get horrid.  But I think the plant will shut down. It's what they do in very bad weather, their employees have to drive some distances to get there from surrounding towns.

What I can say is that we are getting prepared for the worst. The power goes out in this area a lot regardless of weather, but when weather hits? It just goes out.  It's sporadic who gets hit and who doesn't.  I want one of the generators functional and I want a full bottle of propane for outdoor heating and cooking if necessary.  We have a huge heater on the front porch and I have a large propane griddle on the back patio.  It works and I will cook out there if it became necessary.

We have plenty of food we probably need more bottled water.  I don't like to take chances with this stuff, not where I'm living.  Peop0le panic before such events and they go out and clean out the supermarkets.  I haven't heard any of that going on yet, but we have freezers filled with food and a pantry with a good assortment of food stuffs, we definitely won't be starving any time soon over here.

And if my calculations are correct, we will have around 350 pounds of pork coming in a few weeks.

I really don't believe Trump is planning some sort of military invasion of Greenland, contrary to the endless propaganda being pumped out. There is very little support for it, it isn't ours.  I do think he wants to try to buy it out, but the citizens over there have shown up en-masse to oppose it.
