Monday - night
Both kids are miserably sick and I do mean they are miserable right now. I don't often see them like that, thankfully, but right now, they have low to mid grade fevers - depending on when you take it/before/after tylenol, pain, won't eat anything, hard to get them to drink anything, just miserable suffering. I know this feeling and I don't want to revisit it. So, I am keeping them at more than arm's length. The youngest was passed out on the hallway floor last night if that gives you any clue. The oldest asked me to turn the tv off earlier.
Now, that is something really substantial with that kid. His head hurting, he didn't want to hear the noise any longer. I am assuming this is some version of the flu going around, probably got it at school and I'm just hoping and praying I don't get it. I'd be down for a while. They are on day 1 out of school but there is no way they are going to school tomorrow, either.
Anyway, loading today was uneventful. I haven't seen that other driver since my manager said he was going to ensure we aren't loading and unloading on the same days. I just won't tolerate any more of it. The weather has warmed up significantly, I am hoping that means I will get unloaded tomorrow in less than an hour instead of the over 2 hours it's been taking.
I don't have a lot going on right now. I still have 3 lots empty, I had one guy who said he was going to show up - either he never did or he came in, didn't like it and left. I don't sweat that stuff, I just move on. I'll buy another ad if I have to, I want all 3 of those lots filled. It goes in waves. You'll get no calls for a while and then you'll get enough calls over a month or two period of time to fill 50 lots. It's weird. Some big construction company called a few days ago and asked how much the rates were, they didn't commit to anything but that would be nice. Like, perhaps they are part of the new interstate that is going to start being built here.
There's always workers coming and going in this area for a myriad of different types of industries, I'm sure I'll fill those lots up soon enough. My prices are highly competitive, to say the least.
