Saturday - evening
If you came here looking for what I am discussing about Fortnite, skip the first 3 paragraphs.
I don't really want to go too much into today's junk. It's just another day of trucking with all the bs that goes with it. The biggest nonsense was showing up to the trailer washout at almost 10:00 am and finding the first load driver sitting there also waiting for the washout people to show up - you have to call them in on weekends and I had called 10 minutes before this guy called them. I'm like, this dude should be at the plant getting loaded by now, not sitting here at the washout.
The other thing notable is it's getting very warm in that truck. I want it fixed and I discussed it a little while ago with my manager. He said some things - good things - but things I won't divulge here since it's the WWW and who knows who's reading this blog. Not that anyone could definitively identify who I am I guess, but the company knows I have an RV park. So there is that.
He also suggested I bring the truck up on Monday - my day off after what will be 6 days in a row working after tomorrow - so I kind of didn't go for that - at all. He also gave me insight on vacations: of course you can take a week off, just give me enough time in advance to get another driver to take your place while you're gone. 10-4. Plenty of time for that, I need to make a decision on that. Soon.
Today was the Fortnite live event! I've been looking forward to this. Today was the end of the Star Wars theme with all of the wonderful, cool and funny things that this shortened season had to offer.
My favorite aspect of all of it was Darth Vader. You could to go an island filled with red trees and a hangout for Vader up on top, get into a battle with him and if you win, you get to have him on your team! His typical insults and quips are hilarious. I had him with me or us (if playing other than solos) at least 30 times. I would ask him all kinds of questions. Stupid, intellectual, mathematical, meaning of life stuff and I would get the usual stuff from him that I expect, lol.
The other thing was the Star Destroyer. It's this GIANT ship that would shop up in the skies, it must have been at least a 4th the size of the entire map! When it came available, a pop up would show the portal is open and then if you got there first, you and your entire squad would get into it and shoot lasers from the ship and destroy the portion of the map you were hovering over, including enemies combatants.
Well and another thing I liked were the Light Sabers. A character from Star Wars would show up - several different ones - all over the map. You get to one, go into the portal and it gives you a light saber. They all had different abilities - push, pull, throw, and the one I liked the most: lightning.
Anyway, today's event,, which is now over, was hyped up for quite a while in advance. I was letting my nephew know about it because he's on vacation at his grandparent's house and he wouldn't have any way to keep up with it - he loves Fortnite. So I let him know in advance about today's event, he could ask his grandparents if they'd let him get on to be a part of it. I kept reminding him and finally, today, the grandpa relented with his plans to take them fishing and let him be a part of the event.
They have plenty of time, btw, to go fishing, they (both nephews) are going to be there for another 2 weeks I think.
